Never roast Peeps by the bonfire!

We were beach bound for the short spring break and the drive was well worth it! The weather was gorgeous, the company was great (thanks Karma and Duane), and the food was phenomenal. Plus, we came home with some good recipes, so someone should invite us to a potluck. One night we lit a huge bonfire and played Kubb (our favorite Icelandic yard game) UNTIL...we started experimenting with roasting Peeps. Jack burned his thumb and a huge blister immediately formed. Turns out that whole opposable thumb thing is pretty critical. Also note, Peeps melt much faster and at a higher temperature than marshmellows.
The pick up soccer game at the Milnes house on the harbour was a lovely way to close out the weekend.

Maybe the fact that that peeps are encrusted in sugar makes them highly flammable? Who knew?

Uh, that picture looks like someone is engulfed in flames. Sorry about Jack's thumb. Don't they say it's opposable thumbs that seperate us from the animals? That, and our ability to accessorise?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh...beautiful weather and the beach...what more could ask for? Me, I just want you to spell 'marshmallow' the right way!

I am jealous-- truly. I also love the fire picture. It made me remember a picture of the two of you on your way home from St. George or CA kissing in front of a wild fire on the side of the road. Am I making that up? What is it with you and fire?

Except the peeps eyes don't melt, in the microwave anyway. What a great way to spend spring break!
